A single needle and one length of thread sew the chain-link stitch shown here, finished with a kettle stitch at the head and tail; Paper Craft Panda calls this approach slower, though it produces a secure, uniform spine. Two needles instead sew braid-like stitches across the spine through an even number of paired holes, an approach the same guide calls faster to sew, though it means managing more needles and thread at once.
